"Huge blob of Arctic goo floats past Slope communities"

From the Anchorage Daily News:

It is a blob of stuff floating around Alaska. It is not oil. It is not Sarah Palin's cosmetics, scraped off after a hard day.

"Coast Guard Petty Officer 1st Class Terry Hasenauer says, 'It's certainly biological. It's definitely not an oil product of any kind.'"

It's huge, and no one has ever seen anything like it before. And it's still moving. Coming to a town near you...

"Wedding bouquet tradition causes plane crash in Italy "

from China National News:

So, is it traditional in Italy to crash a plane at a wedding? Well, no. Apparently, this couple wanted someone to throw a bouquet from an airplane (instead of just standing there and throwing it) and the result was less than happy,

"The light aircraft was supposed to fly over a line of single women and a passenger on the aircraft, Isidoro Pensieri, was supposed to throw the bouquet out. However it all went horribly wrong when the bouquet was sucked into the plane's engine, which caught fire and exploded."

Horribly, the only person hurt was the kind soul who had offered to throw the bouquet for them from the plane.

"Pablo Escobar's fugitive hippo shot dead"

From The Guardian:

Apparently, hippos can hold a lot of coke in their, um... never mind.

They have been on the run for two years, and finally, one of them has been caught.

But how, you may ask, why, you may ask?

The hippos were damaging crops. The hippos were pets of the old cocaine king Pablo Excobar's.

"The mammals had been living wild in a tropical valley after escaping almost three years ago from an exotic menagerie which Escobar assembled during his heyday as a billionaire drug trafficker."
